On November 21, 2025, I took part in the 2025 Jongno-gu Lifelong Learning Showcase, held at the Garden of the Sun at Jonggak Station in central Seoul.

The event was a chance for residents to share with their neighbors what they had enjoyed learning over the past year. Under the theme "The Art of Letters," I ran a Western calligraphy booth and met visitors in person.

Throughout the venue, the joy of learning was everywhere, and Booth 8, where I spent the day, welcomed a great many people curious about Western calligraphy. I displayed a range of works written with care over the years, including Fraktur and Copperplate, introducing the beauty of line that is unique to Western calligraphy. Talking with visitors who studied the letters closely and wondered how they were written left a deep impression on me as well.

Rather than simply showing my work, I also prepared a few small activities so that visitors could experience calligraphy for themselves. Handwritten bookmarks, lettered on the spot, became small everyday gifts for many, and the engraving service, in which I wrote names on treasured belongings, drew so much interest that people lined up to wait. Seeing visitors delight as graceful Western letterforms turned personal items such as perfume bottles and cosmetics into something special was truly rewarding for me.

This event was a precious reminder that the joy of writing letters can go beyond personal achievement, bringing small moments of happiness to others and becoming a way to connect. I hope the beauty of line created by nib and ink became a pleasant source of inspiration in the daily lives of everyone who joined us that day. I will continue to share the charm of Western calligraphy widely and to enjoy its beauty together with many more people.
